Our Mission
BCB Wheels of Opportunity is a community-driven initiative aimed at providing reliable transportation to essential members of our community, thereby enhancing access to educational opportunities, employment, and critical support services. By harnessing the generosity of vehicle donors, this program specifically assists high school students, participants of the Healing House, and the Rape Abuse Crisis Center in Jefferson City. The goal is to ensure that transportation barriers do not hinder their opportunities for growth and recovery. Our mission is to create a strong network of support that empowers individuals, fosters resilience, and builds a foundation for success in the face of challenges. This effort not only changes individual lives but also strengthens the entire community.
How It Works
1 .
Empower High School Students:
Facilitate access to educational and extracurricular activities by providing reliable transportation.
2 .
Support the Healing House:
Aid in the mobility of women recovering from substance use to attend therapy sessions, job interviews, and other critical appointments.
3 .
Assist the Rape Abuse Crisis Center:
Provide transportation solutions for safe travel to and from the center, helping those affected by abuse in maintaining anonymity and security.
Vehicle Eligibility:
1 .
Vehicles must be in decent running condition with no major repairs needed.
2 .
Donors must provide proof of ownership and clear title at the time of donation.
3 .
Recipients (individuals or organizations) must be able to provide evidence of insurance and valid driver’s licenses where applicable.
The Process
1 .
- Donors contact BCB via a dedicated phone line or website to express interest in donating a vehicle.
- BCB schedules a pickup or drop-off time and verifies the vehicle’s condition and paperwork.
2 .
- Donated vehicles undergo a thorough inspection and necessary minor repairs to ensure safety and reliability.
- Partnerships with local auto repair businesses and vocational schools may be sought for vehicle servicing.
3 .
- A committee reviews applications from potential recipients based on set criteria and urgency of need.
- Vehicles are allocated and handed over with appropriate documentation and keys.
4 .
- BCB conducts follow-ups with recipients to ensure the vehicle is used as intended and to address any emerging issues.
- Recipients may receive additional support such as maintenance tips and assistance with registration or insurance processes.
